Born on 21 September 1954, in Shinjuku, Tokyo. He had always dreamed of becoming an actor, but his family's political background had asked for other provisions. His Grandfather Nobusuke Kishi, was the Prime Minister of Japan, while his father served in the House of Representatives. Abe attended Seikei Elementary and High school, where he studied Public Administration and later he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science, from Seikei University.
He later went to the University of South California, where he studied English as a visiting student, but after taking three semesters in International Relations and political science he left and later joined Kobe steel. He left the company in 1982 and pursued several government positions including executive assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, private secretary to the chairperson of the LDP General Council, and private secretary to the LDP secretary-general.
Abe's Political Journey:
Abe was elected to the first district of Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1993.
In 1999, he became Director of the Social Affairs Division.
He was Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary in the Yoshirō Mori and Junichiro Koizumi Cabinets from 2000 to 2003.
On 23 April 2006, Abe was elected as the president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
On 26 September 2006, Abe was inaugurated as Japanese prime minister.Elected at age 52, he was the youngest prime minister.
He served as the Prime minister of Japan from 2012-2020.
Abenomics:
He enacted military reforms in 2015 that allowed Japan to exercise collective security and JSDF deployments overseas, the passage of which was controversial and met with protests. Economically, Abe's premiership was also known for his attempts to counter Japan's economic stagnation, nicknamed "Abenomics", with mixed results.
Abe's Assassination:
On 8 July 2022, Abe was shot while delivering a campaign speech in Nara. A 41-year-old man named Tetsuya Yamagami, a former JMSDF sailor is the Assassin. The shooting had been linked to a religious cult. But the officials are yet to confirm regarding the same.
Abe was rushed to the Nara Medical University Hospital in Kashihara, where he was pronounced dead at 17:03.
His body was returned to Tokyo the day after his assassination and his funeral was held on 12 July 2022.
Abe had played an important role in strengthening India-Japan relationship.
